5 Things to Remember When You’re Playing Poker Online

Posted on

Lots people out there love to play poker online, it can be a great way to make money and have fun. But, lots of players – even the best ones – can sometimes burn through their online bankroll very quickly.

There’s nothing worse than to have built up a decent sized stack after weeks of hard work to then losing it.

One of the recurring things I hear is that people who play online lose their money because they can’t keep their online balance – basically that means now withdrawing at the right time.

When you play poker online you need to be disciplined and follow some very strict rules that you have laid out for yourself. If you know you can make money playing poker online, but you can’t seem to keep a handle on your bankroll then this is the article you need!

Play Within Your Bankroll

This the most important thing to remember when playing poker – you must always play within your bankroll if you’re serious about making money. The best thing to do is only put about 5% of your bankroll on the table at a time – this way you don’t have to worry about losing it all in any one game.

Don’t Check Your Balance Every Minute

This will happen naturally if you follow the rule above because you know that you are not in any danger of going broke during the game that you’re playing. Online it’s easy to look at your balance with the click of a button, but it’s not something you should be doing. When you’re doing well your balance increases so when you check it your in high spirits, if you’re on a downswing then checking your balance can really put you off your game. View your stake at the table in terms of chips and not cash and you’ll play much better.

 Treat Every Game Seriously

When you’re playing with real money, every decision, every hand and every pot matters! If you’re not focused then it’s very easy to lose money by making mistakes, mistakes are going to make it much harder for you to keep making a profit. Never play when you’re bored, play when you want to play because you are there to make money.

Pay Attention To You

We are all human and therefore have needs. So you need to make sure you keep healthy and take care of yourself. If you feel healthy you feel good, and that makes you a better player. So remember to take in to account; hunger, comfort, exhaustion and distractions. AND regardless of your opinion, it’s not best to play after a beer.

Have An Off Switch

You need to be able to tell yourself when to stop, create an off switch. You need to be strict with yourself here. When you’re not playing well and it seems that you’re on a downswing it’s time to take a break. If you don’t take a break you will just find yourself making bad decisions and also crazy bets, this is always bad for profit!
